Welcome to the public Gamma release of AMU 3.00!
AMU 3.00/Gamma is distributed in three files: AMU30G_D.ZIP which contains
the 16bit DOS and 32bit DPMI version, AMU30G_P.ZIP which contains the
32bit OS/2 version, and AMU30G_W.ZIP which contains the 32bit
WindowsNT/95 version.
This is a major upgrade and is not a drop-in replacement. To upgrade
from a previous version of AMU, read the UPGRADE.DOC file as soon as you
have installed AMU. If you are a registered user, you will need a new
keyfile. Decompress the REGISTER.ZIP file and follow the instructions in
the UPGRADE.FRM file. Keep in mind that this is a Gamma release, and as
such is not yet completely finished and may still contain some bugs.
One point to keep in mind - this version does not support multiple
directories (such as ProBoard's FA_nnn.CTL format) for a single file area.
The full 3.00 release will most likely support these, but please keep
this in mind when setting up this Gamma version.
To install AMU, simply run the INSTALL.EXE program from the DOS package,
INSTALL2.EXE from the OS/2 package, or INSTALLW.EXE from the Windows
package. This will unpack the necessary files to your hard drive. This
archive was compressed using Pkzip 2.04g with AV verification. After you
unzipped this package, you should have seen:

If you do not see this, the files may have been damaged or tampered
with, and you should pick up a new copy from my system. I am in the
FidoNet nodelist as 1:261/1108, and my BBS numbers are 1-410-974-9305
and 1-410-269-5117. Again, this is a major upgrade and represents many
months of very hard work by myself and the Beta team. Please take the
time to read the WHATSNEW.300 file if you are upgrading from a previous
version, or to read the documentation if you are a new AMU user. If you
like AMU, please register to show your support for the shareware concept
and to ensure further development of AMU.
